Computer Simulation of the Coupling Between Recirculation Flows and Drug Release from a Coronary Drug-Eluting Stent

چکیده
This study examines the effect of recirculation zones and flow pulsatility on transfer active ingredient from drug-eluting stents to arterial wall, which can be hindered by located upstream downstream stent struts, leading restenosis thrombosis. Numerical simulations were conducted using a left coronary artery model with steady or pulsatile flows, mass analysis was performed single-stent strut square cross section. The findings offer valuable insights into optimizing geometric design controlling size dynamics induced cells, thereby enhancing efficacy treatments.

Overview of Intracoronary Brachytherapy for in-Stent Restenosis of a Drug-Eluting Stent
Percutaneous coronary intervention with stenting is considered recently as the most common procedure for the treatment of symptomatic coronary. The article reviewed 41 studies published during 1997-2019 on intracoronary brachytherapy for in-stent restenosis of a drug-eluting stent. Intracoronary radiation therapy was finally confirmed in the setting of in-stent restenosis using as adjunctive th...

The use of drug-eluting stents aiming at by-pass the disadvantage of stainless steel stents have been associated to late thrombosis after withdrawal of anti-platelet agents. We report a case with another complication, the development of a coronary aneurysm in the stent area more than three years after index procedure. Late chronic local inflammatory responses may be responsible for the weakenin...
متن کاملDrug release kinetics from a drug-eluting stent with asymmetrical coat.
The aim of this study was to investigate the drug release profiles of biodegradable polymer sirolimus- or paclitaxel-eluting stents with asymmetrical coating (BPSES-A or BPPES-A) both in vitro and in vivo. In vitro, the drug release profile was characterized by measuring the drug concentration by HPLC over a time-course. In vivo, a porcine aorta stenting model was employed. The results showed t...
متن کاملDrug-eluting stent coatings.
This paper reviews the development of coronary stents from a polymer scientist's view point, and presents the first results of an interdisciplinary team assembled for the development of new stent systems. Poly(styrene-b-isobutylene-b-styrene) block copolymer (SIBS), a nanostructured thermoplastic elastomer, is used in clinical practice as the drug-eluting polymeric coating on the Taxus coronary...
